Esperanto Viva! A free correspondence course

This course is under construction, but you are welcome to browse it anyway.

An introductory course in the international language Esperanto, giving you an insight into the language and the language community.

Click on Lesson One and enjoy yourself. When you have completed the exercises a tutor will be found, and your corrected exercises will be returned to you by e-mail. Then do the same for lessons 2 - 10!

Notes:

• There are versions of this course to teach Esperanto using other languages, too.
• You may also download the whole of the 'Esperanto Viva!' course for study offline.
• This is the Latin-3 version of the course. If you do not have a Latin-3 font, then you may prefer the version of this course which uses standard Latin letters (i.e. lower half of the ASCII set). (If "æ" appears as a "c" with a "^" over it, then you have the Latin-3 font installed.)
• You may wish to download a Latin-3 font, which reproduces the accented characters in Esperanto.

Becoming a course tutor

Translating the course

Publication of this course in other languages is encouraged. Please note, however, that the course is copyright, and that we wish you to accept certain conditions - we wish to work with you!

This course is published not only on the Internet, but also as a free postal course, on paper. The first lesson is distributed, for instance, in public libraries, and the address of a local tutor is placed on the back page. The student is asked to provide a stamped addressed envelope with his/her exercises. On receipt of the corrections, he/she receives the next lesson.

Again, we welcome the possibility of producing the paper version in other languages.
