"Lesson Zero" - Basics

  1. Immersion is the best way to learn a language! By design, the International Language is so simple that you can learn just a few rules and with the help of a dictionary for vocabulary, you will be able to read and write Esperanto, weeks, months or even years faster than almost any national/ethnic language (unless you are comparing a language which is a close relative of that national/ethnic language).
  2. Pronunciation of the letters & diphthongs is phonetic: Always the same pronunciation and pronounce everything that is written.
  3. Emphasis (sometimes called "accent") is always on the next to last syllable. Syllables are defined by each vowel.
