Miscellaneous Things to Know About NASK

Students arrive on June 30 (Dinner provided) and can stay until July 19 (Lunch provided).

Registration is at the Eleanor Roosevelt College Conference Desk, Student Activity Center near the Pangea Parking Structure at Scholars Drive North and Pangea Drive. The campus bus also stops here. There is an elevator and stairs from the street level to the student center. Laundry facilities are found here; also a change machine.

Housing will be in The International House in Roosevelt College Apartments. Rooms include no reading lamps but do have computer hookups. Access to the internet can be arranged for $10. Some housekeeping will be provided including linen and towel service.

There are no telephones in the rooms. It will be very useful to have a cell phone.

Meals will be in Las Ventanas.

Parking permits are required 5 days a week, Monday-Friday 7am-11pm. Permits are not required on the weekend. Parking permits are available at the conference registration desks. The cost is included in the housing rate. Off campus students must purchase a parking permit at the registration desk.

The university facilitates those with disabilities. Please inform the staff of your needs at registration. Intra-Campus Transportation is available.

The weather in July is usually pleasantly warm: high 81F/27C, low 61F/16C. It almost never rains in the summer. Sometimes fog comes in off the sea, and then a light jacket or something similar is useful. The atmosphere in the university and in San Diego generally is VERY informal. Among students and others, the most common clothing is a tee-shirt and shorts.
