Welcome to The Esperanto Home Page & Index
These pages were constructed to provide a source of English language-based
information about Esperanto to those who don't know about the language,
as well as providing information to current Esperantists (and future speakers)
about meetings and events. You can find out more about this site on the Introduction Page.
The green star is recognized by Esperantists around the world as a symbol
for Esperanto information, and is frequently worn as an insignia by Esperantist
travelers.
Since these pages are so new, there are still a lot of things
we need to convert into viewable pages for you. However, this index will
provide the basic structure. You'll see some subject areas that aren't clickable
yet. We've done this to tell you what we have in mind, in the hopes that
you will come back and check our progress as construction of the site continues.
(Of course, pointers, and contact information to your favorite Esperanto
clubs or groups would be gratefully accepted
via email to admin@esperanto.org.)
Esperanto, the Language. Do you want
to know the basic rules of the grammar of Esperanto? Do you want to see
some samples of written Esperanto, or find audio files of something spoken
in the International Language? You can find this information on
The Language page.
Organizations. There are many Esperanto
groups across the U.S. Many are larger, formal clubs, while others are smaller,
informal groups. (We probably don't know about all of them...yet!) If you
are looking for a group to contact for more information, or just to hear
the language spoken and ask questions, look on the
Organizations page to find out how you can
get in touch with these groups. (This page is still being built!)
Learning Esperanto. There are formal
classes, as well as self-study postal courses available. We're also have
some hypercard stacks which will be available in the FTP area. There will
also be on-line learning materials here in the near future, as well as
pointers to other self-study aids. You can find information and pointers
to materials on the Learning page.
Magazines, books, and music. If you are
thinking of learning the language, or are already a speaker, you may be
interested in finding reading or listening materials to help you practice
and improve your Esperanto. We will also be posting review of some of the
magazines and journals available soon. You can find this type of information
on the Events. If you are already a speaker, then
may we try to interest you in some of the regional, national, and international
events planned for the next few years. We've got information on many of
them, and stories and pictures from past events are coming soon! This
calendar of events
is maintained by the staff at "Eventoj", in Hungary, and
the information is primarily in Esperanto, and arranged by date.
FTPable resources. We will be collecting ISO font files, learning
aids, digital images, sound files, and stories in a repository, to make
them easily available via the web. Someday soon, you'll be able to check
here for a link to the index of files available via FTP. There are already
a couple of Macintosh HyperCard stacks available
from the Learning Esperanto page.
If you are curious about the server, you can check
our server FAQ, and if you are interested in helping us grow our
collection of Esperanto information, you can read our
send us a quick message.
